What is direct primary care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a new medical philosophy that cuts out third-party insurance, allowing patients direct access to their physician for their healthcare needs. At Boston Direct Health, we provide our patients with highly accessible, personalized care anytime it’s needed. That means longer visits with your doctor and easy ways of communicating outside business hours. More time allows us to discuss your health concerns, find the proper diagnosis for your medical conditions, and identify a pathway to living a more healthful life. Reach out to our office in Boston, MA to schedule a consultation with primary care physician Dr. Steven Zivich.
Direct Primary Care Reviews
"Dr. Zivich is a talented, caring and thoughtful physician who is clearly motivated by a genuine drive to improve his patients’ lives. I’m very excited about his new practice, Boston Direct Health, which has established a ground-breaking model for what our healthcare system should be. He has made accessibility to his quality care even easier and is dedicated to being available to his patients to address any health concerns they may have. Unlike most physician practices, you won’t have to wait weeks to a month to see him. This is because his practice focuses on being available for same day or next day appointments, which is important because you can never predict when you’re going to get sick. Even if you don’t have an appointment, Dr. Zivich is still available to consult with you via phone, text, or email. I truly wish more physicians would take this patient-focused approach to healthcare. If you haven’t heard of Direct Primary Care before, I strongly recommend giving Boston Direct Health a call!"- R.G. / Google / Feb 19, 2019
how does direct primary care work?
DPC follows a monthly membership fee — usually the same costs of your gym membership or cell phone service. You are then given immediate access to Dr. Zivich. Boston Direct Health’s membership covers a wealth of benefits and services, including:
- No co-pays
- Primary and preventive healthcare
- Same-day appointments
- Prescription discounts on select medications
- 20% discount on cosmetic injectables
- Unlimited, direct communication via phone, email, text, or video chat
Do I still need to have health insurance?
Yes, you do. Our medical practice is not a health insurance program. While Direct Primary Care is more affordable than traditional health insurance, we strongly recommend that you maintain insurance (and/or Medicare). You will need medical insurance in case an unpredictable event affects your health, such as surgery, emergency care, and hospitalization. Not doing so can leave you financially vulnerable if these scenarios were to arise. To minimize costs, Direct Primary Care is often paired with a high deductible health plan (HDHP) and/or a health savings account (HSA).
